Zollie L Smith was credentialed as a Church Evangelist in 1977. He was committed to fulfilling Acts Chapter 2 Verse 8 as a Spirit-Filled child of God. The joy of sharing Jesus with others became the driving force for Zollie because he had experienced the power of God’s love in rescuing him from a life of evil. He was convinced since God delivered him through Jesus, God would do it for others. In 1980 Zollie and four couples pioneered God’s House of Prayer Assembly where the Church grew from ten adherents to thirty-five in his basement. The Church relocated and continued to grow which resulted in purchasing an existing Church facility. Zollie was Senior Pastor for ten years before God directed Him to resign. In 1982 Zollie became a credential holder in The Assemblies of God Fellowship and in 1986 an Ordained Minister. He was elected as the Senior Pastor of First Assembly of God in 1999, later to become Eternal Life Christian Center where the Church grew from 87 adherents to over 500 adherents with an average Sunday attendance of over 300 during his fifteen-year tenure as Senior Pastor. The Church mobilized 22 functional ministries, constructed a 1.7-million-dollar Education Enrichment Center that offered, elementary education, early childhood learning with an official size basketball court.
In 1998 Zollie was elected as the Assistant Superintendent of the New Jersey District Council Assemblies of God where he assisted in superintending the affairs of the Council. In the preceding years Zollie was elected as President of The National Black Fellowship, Executive Presbyter of the General Council Assemblies of God, New Jersey District Executive Secretary, and The Executive Director of U.S. Missions for ten years prior to retiring. As Executive Director he had oversight of 2400 hundred missionaries and spouses, managed an annual budget of over thirty million dollars. The number of mobilized missionaries increased, the division moved from a status of 7 among the 8 divisions to number 1, during his last three years in office, in financial increases and organizational stability.
